WHAT'S NEW AT CMSJ

History

In 2007, a group of incredibly enthusiastic parents and professionals came together upon realizing our community lacked a place solely focused on regular, creative, hands-on play for young children. Drawing upon their tremendous amount of expertise in education, marketing, public relations, publishing, fundraising and business management, the group formed a Board of Directors and set the museum in motion. Incorporated in the State of Florida in May 2007, two months later, the Children’s Museum of St. Johns (CMSJ) received its 501(c)3 designation.

CMSJ is governed and its programs run by a volunteer Board of Directors and many dedicated volunteers. There are currently 15 board members from a wide variety of educational backgrounds and experiences.

In December 2008, CMSJ, as a museum without walls, debuted its first hands-on exhibit, “Walk Like a Timucuan,” at St. Augustine’s Ancient City Kids Day to an estimated audience of 700 children.

Since the museum’s formation, it has served more than 2,500 children.
