GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
Launching our Capital Campaign
In 2008, CMSJ’s newly formed Board of Directors
will launch an extensive capital campaign to identify
and pursue funding sources for starting the museum. These
will include both private and public sources—individuals,
corporations, foundations, and government grants.
The current greatest need is for seed funding for start-up costs, but the CMSJ board will also be raising money for building renovation or construction, exhibit sponsorships, memberships, and professional staffing—it will take an estimated total of $3-5 million to open the doors of the Children’s Museum of St. Johns.
Founding Members Help Pave the Way
You can help! Joining CMSJ as a Founding Member will
help provide vital seed funding to pay for start-up costs:
filing and membership fees, development and printing
of marketing tools, mailings, and other administrative
costs. It will also help the CMSJ team develop the museum’s
first traveling exhibits—"Walk Like a Timucuan"
and “Dig
It!”
Many children’s museums start as “Museum
without Walls” until they find a permanent home.
CMSJ’s “Dig It!” exhibit will use some
of the same techniques and concepts as the city’s
own archeological team and the dig will feature artifacts
from different time periods in St. Johns County history.
CMSJ will present Walk Like a Timucuan and Dig It! at
various local festivals and events as a way to spread
the word about the museum project and offer the public
a sample of what a hands-on children’s museum has
to offer.
