Launching our Capital Campaign
In 2009, CMSJ’s Board of
Directors will launch an extensive capital campaign
to identify and pursue funding sources for starting
the museum. These will include both private and public
sources: individuals, corporations, foundations, and
government grants.
The current greatest need is
for seed funding for start-up costs, but the CMSJ board
will also be raising money for building renovation
or construction, exhibit sponsorships, memberships,
and professional staffing—it will
take an estimated total of $3-5 million to open the doors
of the Children’s Museum of St. Johns.
Founding Members Help Pave the Way
You can help! Joining CMSJ as
a Founding Member will help provide vital seed funding
to pay for start-up costs: filing and membership fees,
development and printing of marketing tools, mailings,
and other administrative costs. It will also help the
CMSJ team develop traveling
exhibits and in-school enrichment programs such as "Walk
Like a Timucuan," and “The Great Bubble Blow-Out."
As an "emerging museum,"
CMSJ is currently presenting traveling exhibits to the
community at areas events and festivals in our “Museum
without Walls” until we find a permanent home.
These presentations help spread the
word about the museum project and offer the public a
sample of what a hands-on children’s
museum has to offer.

Naming Opportunities

the museum to encourage and recognize philanthropic support.

(e.g., The James Smith Children's Museum of St. Johns)
• $250K - $1 million — Naming rights to specific
rooms within museum
• $75K - $100K — Naming rights for permanent
exhibits
• $25K - $50K — Sponsorship of traveling exhibits
• $1K or more — Permanent recognition on donor
